Through the generosity of donors, the Foundation is able to support activities directly related to the social enhancement and cultural preservation of Dakota people. Awards are based on the availability of funds which are raised through direct mail appeals, voluntary contributions, testamentary bequests, and interest on investments.

Dakota Indian Foundation was recently awarded a grant from First Nation’s Development Institute to to support the establishment of the Ella Deloria Research Center.  Dakota Indian Foundation was able to employ Native American Youth Interns to digitize data for research purposes. Thank you to First Nations for your generous contribution!

Over the past 40 years, Dakota Indian Foundation has provided grants to many organizations.  The following list provides an example of the various types of programs that have received funding.

Grants are based on the availability of funds and approved by the DIF Board of Directors, a group of nine professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to meet on a monthly basis.
